IFÁ SAYS: EVERY IBI(MISFORTUNE) CAN BE TRANSFORMED INTO IRE(GOODNESS) IF YOU KNOW HOW TO PLAY YOUR CARDS
~ÈJÌOGBÈ

In this context, “To know how to play your card” means: “to know how to manage your life”. Your card is your ÌWÀ(attitude).

You are suffering because you have failed to examine the kind of ìwà that you embody, that is exposing you to affliction. Now you are tired of your situation and you want to get out, but you keep using the same ìwà that brought you Misfortune, as Aid to get you out of the ugly situation that you are in, it will not work! Such ìwà will only open you up for more catastrophe.

A verse from Ejiogbe says:
“The intelligence that is required to build a house is not same as the intelligence be needed to live inside”.

This means, the ìwà that brought you Misfortune(IBI) is not same as the one that will bring you goodness(IRE).
For Ibi(Misfortune) to transform into IRE(Goodness), you need to Embody authentic ÌWÀ.

An example of authentic ìwà was expressed in one of the verses of Ejiogbe, when Òrúnmìlà was faced with series of Ajogun. They disturbed Òrúnmìlà so much that they almost ruined him. FEAR was the instrument they used. Òrúnmìlà was engulfed by fear and this made him powerless. He couldn’t achieve any goodness for himself, he became uncreative.
Òrúnmìlà applied so much efforts just to chase these devouring forces, but all his efforts were in vein. When he got tired, he consulted IFÁ and he was guided.
In this verse, IFÁ told Òrúnmìlà not to lean on his understanding because they weren’t effective at that point, he was advised to work with authentic ìwà(attitude). He was told to offer Ẹbọ to Èṣù with sixteen lamps and other items, he complied.
Èṣù received the rest items, and gave Òrúnmìlà the lamps to take home and keep them on always, he assured Òrúnmìlà that the ajogun won’t come close if the lamps are on. Òrúnmìlà complied.
Not long after, the ajogun surfaced again, they came to torment Òrúnmìlà as usual, but unfortunately the condition they met Òrúnmìlà in, made it hard for them to gain access into anything that has to do with him. They saw the lamps, they could tell that Òrúnmìlà was highly and rightly charged, so they couldn’t torment him, instead they surrendered to him.
That was how Òrúnmìlà liberated himself, and he transformed all the Misfortunes(IBI) to Goodness(IRE).

The awo that casted IFÁ for Òrúnmìlà in this verse were: Bí iná bá wọlé Òkùnkùn á para dà, tí òkùnkùn bá kọ̀lati para dà á rí ṣẹ́tí iná ń ṣe fún ni
Translation: When light enters darkness will give way
If darkness refuses to give way
It will experience the effects of light

NOTE: The sixteen lamps in this verse means, divine wisdom which is IFÁ, it means Alignment.
To Embody Authentic ìwà means, to Embody the qualities of ORÍ.
False ìwà causes misalignment, and it makes it easier for ajogun to have access into our space.
ORÍ wants us to be well rooted in his/her love– this is the authentic ìwà.
False attitude won’t get you out of ugly situations, authentic attitude would!
If you are in a mess and you are still embodying a false ìwà, it means you are not ready to come out. You cannot transform ibi to IRE with a false ìwà, no! A false ìwà will continue to birth more ibi.

“The secret to surviving is knowing what to throw away and knowing what to keep
Because, every hand is a winner and every hand is a loser” ~Kenny Rodgers (The Gambler)
