In the odu Ifa Ogunda Obara, Orunmila enlightened his devotee about the foundational step required to bring their desires to reality. He says: “For one to get hold of the blessings of life, one must first Envision it.”
Here, Ifa wants us to understand that our brain is the greatest asset that we have as humans, and we must utilize it to our advantage. Understanding this truth will empower us to use our brain to modify our reality, and prepare us to receive all the blessings Ori has revealed to us through Ifa divination.
When we envision our goal, it assists our brain in comprehending our exact wishes, which in turn causes the universe to realign itself to manifest these wishes, especially if done repeatedly. This is why the brain and the mind are the major areas of focus in Ori-work or Ori bibo.
According to Neuroscience, when an action is imagined, the brain’s neural pathways and motor cortex areas become activated as if the action were actually being performed. This mental rehearsal reinforces the necessary connections for executing the behavior in reality, thereby training both our mind and body. In other words, your brain cannot differentiate between what is real for you and what you are imagining. It treats your mental pictures as if they are happening in your reality. This also confirms what Ifa says in the odu Idi Otura, “Whatever the eyes seek, it shall find.” This is because our brain does not joke with our imagination. Once we envision it, our brain gets to work to make it a reality.
Funny enough, the odu Ogunda Obara is my odu for this year (2025), and I’m thankful for the lessons learned. I visualized my goals and can proudly list the spiritual and material blessings I received this year!
