So the question is, freedom from what exactly?
Orunmila said, it is freedom from that thing that puts you in spiritual Bondage(Ìgbèkùn).
And what is that thing?
It is “Attachment to fruits of an unpurified Mind & senses”
What are the fruits of an unpurified Mind? They are attachment to Sex, unhealthy foods, money, alcohol, drugs, gossip, backbite, anger, jealousy, hatred, unforgiveness, greed…
These are some of the things that puts one in spiritual bondage(Igbekun). So, to surrender means, to drop the fruits of an unpurified mind.

Orunmila says: Ogbe, come and surrender in order to be free. It is lack of spiritual awareness that makes one to repeat circles”

Attachment to the fruits of an unpurified Mind & senses will put one in spiritual bondage(Ìgbèkùn). If your Mind is not Purified it will drag you into a mode of ignorance where you will be used and tortured by the Ajoguns(manevolents spirits).

Your mind can be your best friend if you purify it. But if it is not purified, it is your worst enemy.
