One of the factors that affects spiritual growth is “SELF DECEIT”.
What is self deceit?
Self deceit is when you deceive yourself. It is when you know what is right for you but prefer to settle for what is wrong for you, because you think something good will come out of it.
When you notice you are not growing spiritually, one of the things you may have to take note of is “self deceit”- check if you haven’t been lying to yourself.
Today’s lesson is taken from Òyèkú Òbàrà(one of the ifá chapters) and this chapter belongs to the 36th house of the ifá chapters.
A mouse cannot lick fermented locust bean liquid and survive
This was ifá’s message for Lasilo(name of a client)
The one who had a sore on his left leg
But choose to put medication on his right leg
Ifá says that: “He who has a sore on his left leg but chooses to put medication on his right leg is only deceiving himself”
Èkúté ilé ò ní mu oje ògìrì kó yèé

Tó dá egbò sí esè òsì
Tó ńlo rèé mójú tó esè òtún
Ifá ní: “Ènìyàn tó dá egbò sí esè òsì, tó ńlo rèé mójú tó esè òtún, ara rè ló ń tàn je”
Self deceit is one of the enemies of spiritual growth, it blocks spiritual growth. Ifá says: “When you neglect what is right for you to settle for what is not right for you because you think something good will come out of it, you will continue to suffer”.
HOW TO OVERCOME SELF DECEIT
– Be honest with yourself always.
– Be willing to be accountable always; when you are accountable, it would be easier for you to accept your wrongs and make corrections.
– Focus on what is right for you always, not what is not right for you.
Self deceit is your enemy, don’t fall for it.
The weapon to overcome it is TOTAL HONESTY.
